"This member of the Polyceridae is endemic to New Zealand and previously only known from the 2 type specimens (i.e., holotype plus paratype) plus one photograph. All were from Port Taranaki, New Plymouth, so Dusky Sound represents a major range extension down to Fiordland. This species was described in an issue of a major malacological journal devoted to nudibranchs that I had the pleasure of co-editing."
