"This is an exceptionally atypical individual. Thorunna daniellae normally has a thin unbroken purple submarginal line, but in this individual it is represented by a series of very large purple spots connected by a rather wide violet-blue line. Some individuals with this pattern of spots/dashes instead of a line are already known (e.g., Bertsch & Johnson 1981: 109), but nowhere near as dark as this individual. Fortunately for identification, the semi-transparent uniformly pink mantle abs red rhinophores and gills of this specimen are characteristic of Thorunna daniellae. This photo represents the first record of this species from Malaysia."
