"Most times it is easy to separate and identify Chromodoris fidelis and Chromodoris rubrocornuta. Adult Chromodoris fidelis has coloured lobes or ‘tongues’ that extend well across the mantle and black rhinophores and gills. Adult Chromodoris rubrocornuta has no coloured lobes or only hints of lobes and red or purplish rhinophores and gills. So the individual in this photo must be a juvenile Chromodoris fidelis because of its black rhinophores and gills, but in this small individual the coloured lobes have not yet developed inward from the submarginal bands. A very atypical individual that lacks the wavy pattern normally characteristic of this species."
